Re: Global warming and Climate change
So why would an increase in CO2 lag a rise in temperature?

CO2 is a trace gas. Its effect would be negligible.

Does water vapour cause global warming?

Re: Global warming and Climate change
It's not a consensus that it always has been. That was a mistake by a non-scientist, Al Gore, which may have been shared by some non-specialists.

The current consensus is that the PRESENT episode of GW is caused by CO2, aided and abetted by other greenhouse gases.

What Lucka Bogataj said does not contradict that, and had to be distorted to make it do that.

What is stupid beyond belief is to continue to issue this propaganda when she is still active in the field ten years later, and still concerned about carbon dioxide.

More power to your elbow.

"It may not be verbatim, but there is an important point; the "consensus of scientists" have been screaming that the rise in CO2 is directly as a result of global warming and always has been."

What absolute twaddle!

Geep

I can't SCRUNTUNISE that.

It may not be verbatim, but there is an important point; the "consensus of scientists" have been screaming that the rise in CO2 is directly as a result of global warming and always has been.

You can check in my posts from months ago where I've stated that this can not be correct but all of the chicken lickens on here refuse to believe it.

gph 6:51 Mon Mar 9
Re: Global warming and Climate change
Dr Lucka Bogataj didn't say that.

She said: "A detailed comparison of temperature data and the quantity of carbon dioxide captured in the ice shows, that sometimes it warmed up first and then the concentration of carbon dioxide increased, and sometimes vice versa, but on average the temperature changed first and some 700 years later a change in aerial content of carbon dioxide followed.” (Note the past tense)

This was misleadingly summarised in a deniers' article in 2010 as “Dr. Lucka Kajfež Bogataj left cold clear water between herself and her former UN shipmates by declaring that rising levels of airborne carbon dioxide probably don’t cause global temperatures to rise.” (Note the present tense)

Then someone else took a hostile and misleading summary, messed around with it and turned it into a direct quote.

The problem with recycling outdated propaganda is that, when it concerns someone who is still a leading academic in the field, it is SCRUNTINISED.

This is like me claiming Jesus was an atheist...

Fucking hell Cough, don't confuse him even more.

No need to be rude, boltyson.

It's your research and hard work we're interested in here.

Far Cough 6:14 Mon Mar 9
Re: Global warming and Climate change
I don't know if Volcanoes are caused by melting ice but you might want to read up on Thermohaline circulation, it's called the great ocean conveyor and it has a direct effect on climate

Re: Global warming and Climate change
So in essence, you haven't a clue what you post one moment from the next because you're pissed?

Thought as much.

Hammer and Pickle 6:11 Mon Mar 9
Re: Global warming and Climate change
I'm talking about your groundbreaking work on the edge of plate-tectonics geology and climatology - your specially valuable insight is clearly due to your experience of extremely massive spherical objects, boltyson

Re: Global warming and Climate change
1 minute he's saying ice is melting the next it's growing.

Too many Tyskies, I'd imagine.

So what do you believe, Pickled as you're all over the place here?

You ought to be interested in their research work and how it has been received by the rest of the research community.

I'm not interested in their bios.

Re: Global warming and Climate change
Pickle

They are IPCC scientists. I can send you their short form bios if you like.

riosleftsock 5:52 Mon Mar 9
Re: Global warming and Climate change
Volcanoes are caused by plate tectonics, it is possible that the mass melting of ice at the end of an ice age could contribute to some plate movement by isostatic rebound, but I don't think that has ever been proven.

Hammer and Pickle 5:51 Mon Mar 9
Re: Global warming and Climate change
ЦОЦК

I've never heard of them.

Since you mention them, you ought to be familiar enough with their work to educate us with a link at least.

Hammer and Pickle 5:50 Mon Mar 9
Re: Global warming and Climate change
Obviously.

But apparently the amount of ice in polar regions is increasing.

Did the volcanos cause the heavy snow in Norway as well?

Why don't you look at who these people are, then check to see if these quotes are real first.

I can give you some more once you've checked them out.

Re: Global warming and Climate change
Ag ag ag ag, Davies.

Volcanoes cause ice to melt, not the opposite. That's what I meant, obviously.

Hammer and Pickle 5:46 Mon Mar 9
Re: Global warming and Climate change
"I said before that Volcanoes are the result of ice melting..."

You did?

The groundbreaking nature of your work must have been too explosive for one to take on board.

JustAFatKevinDavies 5:45 Mon Mar 9
Re: Global warming and Climate change
how are volcanoes caused by ice melting, genuinely interested.
