So why would an increase in CO2 lag a rise in temperature?
CO2 is a trace gas. Its effect would be negligible.
Does water vapour cause global warming?

Re: Global warming and Climate change

It's not a consensus that it always has been. That was a mistake by a non-scientist, Al Gore, which may have been shared by some non-specialists.
The current consensus is that the PRESENT episode of GW is caused by CO2, aided and abetted by other greenhouse gases.
What Lucka Bogataj said does not contradict that, and had to be distorted to make it do that.
What is stupid beyond belief is to continue to issue this propaganda when she is still active in the field ten years later, and still concerned about carbon dioxide.
More power to your elbow.

What absolute twaddle!

Geep
I can't SCRUNTUNISE that.
It may not be verbatim, but there is an important point; the "consensus of scientists" have been screaming that the rise in CO2 is directly as a result of global warming and always has been.
You can check in my posts from months ago where I've stated that this can not be correct but all of the chicken lickens on here refuse to believe it.

Re: Global warming and Climate change

Dr Lucka Bogataj didn't say that.
She said: "A detailed comparison of temperature data and the quantity of carbon dioxide captured in the ice shows, that sometimes it warmed up first and then the concentration of carbon dioxide increased, and sometimes vice versa, but on average the temperature changed first and some 700 years later a change in aerial content of carbon dioxide followed.” (Note the past tense)
This was misleadingly summarised in a deniers' article in 2010 as “Dr. Lucka Kajfež Bogataj left cold clear water between herself and her former UN shipmates by declaring that rising levels of airborne carbon dioxide probably don’t cause global temperatures to rise.” (Note the present tense)
Then someone else took a hostile and misleading summary, messed around with it and turned it into a direct quote.
The problem with recycling outdated propaganda is that, when it concerns someone who is still a leading academic in the field, it is SCRUNTINISED.
This is like me claiming Jesus was an atheist...

I don't know if Volcanoes are caused by melting ice but you might want to read up on Thermohaline circulation, it's called the great ocean conveyor and it has a direct effect on climate

You ought to be interested in their research work and how it has been received by the rest of the research community.
I'm not interested in their bios.

Volcanoes are caused by plate tectonics, it is possible that the mass melting of ice at the end of an ice age could contribute to some plate movement by isostatic rebound, but I don't think that has ever been proven.

Since you mention them, you ought to be familiar enough with their work to educate us with a link at least.

Obviously.
But apparently the amount of ice in polar regions is increasing.
Did the volcanos cause the heavy snow in Norway as well?

Volcanoes cause ice to melt, not the opposite. That's what I meant, obviously.
